COLLECTION NOTE

Spring 2023 is photographed at rue de Rivoli. Marie-Christine Statz wants to capture her collection with an en passant attitude that feels real and shows the person – allowing to see the vulnerability of the individual as a vehicle to point out their strength. The angles and lines of the street and architecture form the backdrop emphasizing the direction, urge and geometry of the designs.

The 27 looks are defined by the house’s foundational tailoring. Suiting with broad shoulders and high-waisted trousers come with pleating details. Coats and jackets have rounded cut-outs at the waist. The cut-outs reappear on the hip with wool skirts and denim trousers. Up-cycled semi-transparent ultra-light plastic is layered with silk chiffon. These fluid looks have a technical texture on the outside and are super soft on the skin. A range of cotton jerseys with rounded shapes comes in crisp white as well as a bicolour version of midnight blue patched with black.

Sequins, tuxedo detailing and body-con long dresses are a recurring motif at GAUCHERE. Asymmetrical tank tops come in different lengths and with three or four piped straps that can be styled variously. The monochrome colour palette of white, beige, grey, black and navy blue is accentuated with linen viscose styles in bright citrus yellow. This yellow recurs in a blown-up, blurred print. It is cut into flowing dresses, tops and wide trousers that are also offered in a rainbow colour-way as well as blue and white hues.
