COLLECTION NOTE
After this unparalleled period of global disconnection, the designer Marie-Christine Statz shares the desire of her community to open up. Re-open borders, overcome established mindsets and reunite in an open society with respect for nature and one another. The Spring 2022 collection with its translucent character and the expansion of gender fluid garments expresses this prevailing mood.
The summery flow of the 24 looks is enhanced by the warm earthy colour palette of golden yellows, beige hues, soft roses and lavender as well as light brown and chatreuse green accents. Trousers and tops open up with full length zippers. Shirts, jackets and bodysuits come with circular cut-outs. The signature shirting and suiting is made of open weaved summer viscose, tie dye cottons or a cotton tweed.
Next to the soft fabrics, by removing collars and buttons of the jackets and showing trousers with colour-block and material mix, the suiting is given a casual feel. Curved button plackets and the mix of fluid and rigid materials enhance the rounded shapes. Backless tops and dresses are constructed out of panels of crushed viscose that create a fluid drape.
The trans seasonal approach of the house to create a personal armour which offers protection without constriction is translated into a series of soft, padded knitwear styles. It is made of superfine eco-cotton and padded with recycled fibres.
