COLLECTION NOTE

The Spring 2021 collection was developed during lockdown in Paris. In the design process Marie-Christine Statz focused on what defines each collection. At the heart of GAUCHERE is the art of tailoring, the appreciation of materials as they are and the translation in pure geometric structures and sculptural volumes. The intuitive designs are expressing the mood of today while aiming for permanence and timelessness.

The 40 styles of the Spring 2021 collection proclaim the relaxed attitude of the GAUCHERE look. The calm, summery colour palette of whites, light greys, beige and pale khaki is accentuated with sky blue silk and wool and silk lamé in brick red. A super light techno taffeta in black and off-white as well as a cotton satin in a pale khaki are the key fabrics for this spring. They come in coats, jackets, shorts, dresses, skirts and shirts. The monochrome styling of these garments stresses the focus on shapes and texture.

Broad shoulders paired with a small waist continues to be an important silhouette for dresses and blazers. But they are designed with voluminous sleeves, high necklines and men’s shirt collars this season. Oversized shirts in pure white and light blue cotton are combined with wide trousers made of washed denim or tropical wool. A trench coat with special tailoring details and a straight fit as well as a casual parka with four large patched pockets are the signature styles of this collection. Whether made of cotton satin, light taffeta or denim, they create a different volume.
